South Africa’s wired citizens appear to be very concerned about the well being of Jacob Zuma’s former advisor.

Following his release from jail on medical parole digital citizens have opened their hearts to Shabir Shaik and are flocking in droves to a local social media site to wish him well.

Sentenced to 15 years in 2005, Shaik - affectionately known as "Shabster" - was convicted on two counts of corruption and one of fraud.

"Channel24 is giving a caring public a chance to reach out to one of our country's favourite sons, JZ's brother in arms deals, Schabir "Shabster" Shaik," says Editor-in-Chief of 24.com, Chris Roper.

"Literally millions of people (and we're using literally in the sense of, I didn't take a bribe) have sent in "Get Well Soon" wishes, although unfortunately mostly followed by the words "so we can get your ass back into jail," says Roper who adds that Shaik fans might also like "The Schabir Shaik Still Shaikin' Parole Clock", which counts down Shaik's days out of jail surviving his terminal disease.

"For every year that he survives on medical parole, Channel24 will literally (see previous parenthisis) send pizzas to everyone who has sent in a "Get Well Soon" picture."
