    The world’s most influential people.

ALEC HOGG: Hilton Tarrant and I chatted on this week's Boardroom Talk podcast about a couple of interesting things, certainly Susan Olsen and her memo on Eskom and the result thereof, and the implications of that happening. That's been a big story this week, particularly as we spoke with Ms Olsen and she wrote a piece specifically for Moneyweb. But the other interesting bit of news that we were talking about is the Forbes list. "Now, Forbes is well known for producing a list of the richest people in the world. It's now for the first time had a list of the most powerful people in  the world. And the way they've worked it out is they've said: Do these individuals have influence over a lot of people, do they control large financial resources, are they powerful in multiple spheres, and do they actively use their power? And Barack Obama comes No 1 on the list. Not surprisingly, there are a lot of politicians here. In second place the premier of China, Mr Hu Jintao. The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin is at No 3. And the first business people that you see on the list are, interestingly enough, Larry Page and Sergey Brin from Google. They are in at No 5. Rupert Murdoch, the media mogul, is in at No 7.
