Who is Cipro fooling?

"Cipro caters for all your business needs"? A likely story.

After being exposed for being at the epicentre of SA's fraud pandemic, Cipro has decided that some positive public relations are in order.

On Friday it issued a press release titled Cipro caters for all your business needs. "Whether you want to register a business entity or simply need advice on how to protect your intellectual property, the Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office (Cipro) is there to cater for your every need."

That's all well and good, but who is Cipro to advise companies on protecting their intellectual property? It can't even ensure that a business won't have fake directors fraudulently registered? And why haven't we heard of more heads rolling after this wide scale apparent fraud was exposed?

Besides, it seems like even the simplest functions are not being performed properly. On Friday John Daniels Holdings (JSE:JDH) announced an apparent holdup at Cipro.

It advised shareholders that its share consolidation "has not yet been registered despite being lodged timeously by the company with Cipro". It was thus unable to meet the dates published in a previous announcement.

"New salient dates will be published upon confirmation from Cipro that the special resolution has been registered," said JDH. Longsuffering JDH shareholders are advised not to hold their breath.

Corruption
Once a year these crooks drain R4g's from my company just to keep me registered. Another tax spent on corruption.

Try and get these scumbags to answer an email. Telephone they answer -
after a long wait - but in writing - never. They're just too dishonest to commit themselves in writing.

Takes at least 4 months for Cipto to update Directors details
Delivered to CIPRO Pretoria CM29 to update Director details so we can update bank records etc. Todate this has not been lodged and each time I ring am told there is a backlog - last time upto 27th April. Frankly they are grinding business to a halt

corruption and crime now run in our veins
grannies bribe traffic cops, people bypass electricity meters, tenants know the constitution protects them in someone else's property, rich people qualify for old age pension and social grants, tax payers spending a fortune on security are very . .more

@Anne
Your story might make an interesting case study on how ordinary functions at Cipro are being handled (or not handled). Send me an e-mail or call me on 011 327 1277 if you'd like me to pick up on this.

Hey man you are expecting to much. Their only avenue to communicating with the public is by phone, as their conditions of appointment don't make it mandatory for prospective officials to be able to write!
