Episode 6: The Ian Fuhr leadership journey

Through each of Sorbet founder Ian Fuhr’s professional incarnations one belief has remained: ‘servant leadership’ – his driving motivation and foundation for success (Full Interview 29’49”).

At the age of 22, the soon-to-be serial entrepreneur Ian Fuhr, introduced Kmart to South Africa. What followed was a number of careers, including being a music producer for legendary South African musicians such as Hugh Masekela and Caiphus Semenya and another as the philanthropic, socially conscious founder and writer for an industrial theatre company dedicated to eradicating racism in the workplace.

Today he is the founder and CEO of cosmetic and beauty franchise Sorbet – with stores spanning from Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, to Polokwane, Nelspruit, Heidelberg, Witbank and Port Elizabeth. Sorbet opened 56 stores in its first seven years and has opened 60 stores in the past two years. The franchise has just opened its first salon in London.
