As “impact investing” becomes a major theme for wealth managers and high-net-worth individuals, Moneyweb and Nedbank Private Wealth recently held a breakfast meeting with industry experts to debate opportunities.
In this video, Dr Susan de Witt, finance programme coordinator for Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, unpacks challenges to SME funding. De Witt takes us through two interesting examples of successful impact investing and ends with a plea to the industry to take pockets of excellence to scale.
“What we’d like to see is champions from mainstream capital; the private sector, pension funds, people who are willing to forego quarterly returns to help to stabilise and grow the country.”
