What are cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of data, stored in text files, that are stored on your computer or other device when websites are loaded in a browser. They are widely used to “remember” you and your preferences, either for a single visit (through a “session cookie”) or for multiple repeat visits (using a “persistent cookie”). They ensure a consistent and efficient experience for visitors, and perform essential functions such as allowing users to register and remain logged in. Cookies may be set by the site that you are visiting (known as “first party cookies”), or by third parties, such as those who serve content or provide advertising or analytics services on the website (“third party cookies”). Both websites and HTML emails may also contain other tracking technologies such as “web beacons” or “pixels.” These are typically small transparent images that provide us with statistics, for similar purposes as cookies. They are often used in conjunction with cookies, though they are not stored on your computer in the same way. As a result, if you disable cookies, web beacons may still load, but their functionality will be restricted.
Moneyweb uses the following cookies:

Narratiive (previously known as Effective Measure) is used to track users across multiple websites in South Africa, including demographics, geographic data and income group, from information filled in by users on the Moneyweb survey popup at the bottom right of this screen. Data is compiled across members of the Internet Advertising Bureau of South Africa to provide high level information on how many users are using South African websites. The survey popup, which may occasionally be seen on this and other South African websites, is controlled by Narratiive and the data collected is handled by them as a data processor.

The Poool paywall service does not collect, retain, or share data regarding a particular Customer End User’s activity across multiple websites or applications that are not owned by Poool. Poool does assign each user a unique user ID within the scope of an individual website, but does not collect or retain IP or any information except information users volunteer (for example, an email) which would allow Poool to identify the same particular user on more than one website. Furthermore, nothing in this policy contradicts the following statement: Poool does not collect, retain or share any data regarding a particular user or device (including IP addresses and user identifiers) on sites or apps not owned by Poool.
