A tale of cryptos, kidnapping and ransom

And why Stratum refuses to hand over customer information – an interview with its founder and CEO.

Stratum founder and CEO Rocelo Lopes delves into the 2018 kidnapping of his wife, with a demand for $50 million (R679 million) ransom, after loose talk from a bank clerk ended up in the wrong ears. It’s one of the reasons why Stratum refuses to hand over customer information to anyone – including regulators and tax officials.

A very passionate person for upholding privacy as sacrosanct.

…interesting how they’re going to try solve ‘high volatility’ in the crypto sphere.

There is a narrow margin between bravery and stupidity. That margin is called knowledge. Fools simply rush in, ignoring the risks, while brave men identify, analyze, manage and confront those risks.

I do not believe people that deal in absolutes, there is always a gray area. Are you honestly telling me that if there was proof that an organisation was exploiting children, and funnelling money through Stratum, that they would protect their information?

fair odds half his clients are drug dealers, arms dealers, child traffickers, ransomware cowards, kidnappers, corrupt officials.

But anyway – till last week Stratum would have thought the FBI can’t seize cryptos received by his clients, so who knows what next. Officials probably know all they need to know – more than the CEO

Crypto and the gem Bitcoin are the “Mustangs that bolted”

FBi, Mi6 etc can only do so much to stop the “hyphae” effect crypto is

Crypto is the panacea to FIAT and the ills it has fermented, most of all the reserve USD

I have fraction of a bitcoin but find Monero more discreet

Too late perhaps to the crypto revolution but my kids will not be hoodwinked by corrupt deviant governments

There was more to this, that meets the eye, though. There is no way that the FBI could have gotten their hands on that ransom, without the private key. Question is: How did they get hold of it?

End of comments.
