A look at outgoing World Bank president’s record

Jim Yong Kim leaves the World Bank to join the private sector.

President of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, has announced that he will be stepping down from his position as head of the bank at the end of the month, three years before his term ends. Kim has served as president of the World Bank since 2012, he was appointed to the position for a second term 6 months ago. 

World Bank CEO, Kristalina Georgieva, will serve as interim president.

Professor Patric Bond, Professor of Political Economy at Wits University says Kim’s resignation is unusual.
