Bidvest’s first female CEO to take over in 2021

Currently, there are hardly any female CEOs of top JSE firms.

The Bidvest Group, a large South African conglomerate, which operates in the areas of services, trading and distribution announced that Mpumi Madisa, an insider in the firm, would become the group’s CEO by 2021. She’s CEO designate and is in the process of being tutored, mentored and guided by the current incumbent Lindsay Ralphs. 

To gain some insights from the Bidvest CEO designate on the journey, the current transition and future aspirations, Nompu Siziba speaks with Mpumi Madisa.

When are retailers of the likes of Pepkor, Truworths, Foschini, Mr Price, Woolworths, Pick n Pay, Shoprite, etc going to willingly change their Gender Equity “attitudes” towards women?

Or maybe Government needs to address the male dominated situation within the private retailer sector.
