Board of directors has active role to play in driving good governance

‘We need boards that are agile and able to adapt.’

South Africa has, over the last few years, seen an increase in poor governance, which has, in turn, led to the rise of corruption and maladministration in both the public and private sectors. A survey conducted by PwC found that South African companies experience more fraud and bribery than their counterparts elsewhere in the world.

Kuseni Dlamini, chairman of Aspen Pharmacare and Massmart-Walmart, says this paints a very gloomy picture and should be a cause for great concern as the impact of corruption on the economy is enormous.

He talks to Classic Business Breakfast with Moneyweb about how businesses could go about improving good governance to eradicate corruption and maladministration in all spheres of the economy.
