Choppies troubles continue, plans exit from SA

The retailer lacked the critical mass needed to make headways in the local environment.

Botswana budget retailer Choppies Enterprises will be selling its stores in South Africa, owing to a lacklustre economy that’s under severe stress. Choppies has been experiencing some problems, with its shares temporarily being suspended on the JSE and Botswana stock exchanges. To discuss what the withdrawal of Choppies will mean for the South African landscape, Nompu Siziba speaks with Simon Brown, the founder of Just One Lap.
