Cosatu welcomes signing of competition amendment bill

The bill was adopted by parliament last year.

President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the competition amendment bill into in law in Cape Town on Wednesday. The aim of the bill is to give competition authorities and government more power to tackle high levels of economic concentration.

Tony Ehrenreich, deputy parliamentary office coordinator for Cosatu, says the union welcomes the bill because the economy has been concentrated for too long and has kept competitors out of some sectors.
