Eskom won’t require government injection in the next year – Gordhan

‘It must mean that Eskom is making good progress in borrowing the money it needs this year.’

Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan has said that Eskom will not need any money from government in the next year, he was speaking on the sidelines of the Financial Times Africa Summit in London on Monday. Meanwhile, back home, the power utility’s chairman, Jabu Mabuza, says financial advisor, Lazard, will conclude its assessment on which assets Eskom can sell in couple of days.

Antoinette Slabbert, journalist at Moneyweb, speaks to Classic Business Breakfast with Moneyweb about the latest developments at Eskom.

Given that they have a further unit at Medupi which is coal fired how are they going to fund its operation as Eskom don’t have spare cash lying around, nor do they have a satisfactory supply of coal to run these units

Let’s face it, Mr Gordhan, even if eskom did need more of our taxes, you’ve already given it all to SAA!

End of comments.
