Eskom’s financial woes deepen as new plant repair bill mounts

‘Eskom has been foolish to build two mega power stations simultaneously.’

Power utility Eskom is facing a mounting repair bill as two new coal fired power stations are still under construction, compounding its already dire financial position. While Cyril Ramaphosa has said that a plan to stabilise Eskom will be finalised soon, the utility appears to be making little headway in bringing spiralling costs under control.

Roger Lilly, energy analyst at EE publishers, speaks to the Classic Business Breakfast with Moneyweb about exactly what is happening with the coal stations at Eskom.
