Has there been a shift in the unit trust market?

Passive type investments are enjoying more attention.

The number of actively managed unit trusts in South Africa declined in 2018. However, the overall number of collective investment schemes in the country, which includes unit trusts and exchange-traded funds, still went up.

There appears to be more appetite for what are termed passive type investments relative to the actively managed type of investments. To speak about the trends that are taking place, Nompu Siziba speaks with Sunette Mulder, a senior policy adviser at the Association for Savings and Investment South Africa, or Asisa.
