Ramaphosa’s plan for fixing health hits snag

Is the sector dragging its feet on the health compact?

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s plans to fix South Africa’s health system and come up with a proper plan to have government and the private sector work together has hit a snag, with participants from last year’s two-day health summit saying they need more time to work on the health compact.

Tanya Cohen, CEO of Business Unity South Africa, says the sector is working on a concrete and tangible action plan that will take the industry forward. She says this process is something that cannot be rushed and should be done right.

Impossible. This country have a thriving informal living community. No bills for infrastructures, existing or not. It works. The formal is struggling and on a slope down. Coming to a halt only when informal status arrive. Uniting all by living in paradise, again.

I work in private healthcare. Workmans compensation never pays. That’s how it will be in NHI.
All doctors will go. Good luck.

The NHI is promoted as the solution, when it is simply another handout (and funds to be looted).

This is likely the only government that prides itself on the number of its citizens suffering from an incurable disease.

It is no achievement. The ANC had to be forced by the courts to provide medication to HIV patients.

Now we have more people on treatment than anywhere else in the world.

Harsh as it may sound, that is a major reason why we have one of the greatest rates of new infections.

There is no incentive to curb the rate of new infections because these patients will also “owe their lives” to the ANC’s free medication.

As can be seen from the sales of illegal abortion pills, abortion is now used as a contraceptive.

Sorry but there is no money for this for years. Eskom, SAA, basic income grants and so much stealing -its unaffordable!

End of comments.
