Sibanye says over 6 000 jobs could be at risk

As it enters into a restructuring process at its unprofitable gold mines.

Sibanye-Stillwater says that more than 6 000 jobs could be at risk should the miner launch a formal process of restructuring at five of its loss-making gold mines. This comes as the company narrows its full-year loss to R1 billion. Sibanye says numerous initiatives to contain losses at the affected mines have proved unsuccessful.

Thabisile Phumo, vice president and head of stakeholder relations at Sibanye-Stillwater, talks to Classic Business Breakfast with Moneyweb about how the company plans to proceed in light of the above.
