Thumbs down for fuel and carbon levies

From June 5, 2019, a carbon tax of 9 cents per litre will be implemented on petrol and 10c/l on diesel. 

Finance Minister Tito Mboweni’s announced on Wednesday that a Carbon Tax will be implemented on petrol and diesel in June. The tax will form part of government’s efforts to deal with climate change. 

The Automobile Association says the tax is unfair for motorists and consumers. Spokesperson Layton Beard, says fuel costs will be passed on to already embattled consumers.
