World Food Day: Outlook for food security has not improved

South Africa wastes a third of its food.

SA households are net buyers are food in the supermarket, in a cash-based society. For this to happen, South Africans need to be employed, however millions of locals are struggling to put food on the table.

In light of World Food Day, Pietermaritzburg Economic Justice and Dignity Group’s Mervyn Abrahams, talks to Classic Business Breakfast with Moneyweb about the cost of food and why households can’t keep up with the cost of food and  food waste in South.
