Free workshops offered as part of Financial Planning Week

For young professionals and domestic workers.

Cape Town – There is such a desperate need for financial education in South Africa that when companies take initiatives to address this, it is worth noting.

In conjunction with the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI), Veritas Wealth has announced that it will be offering a series of free workshops in Cape Town on September 7 and 8. The workshops will offer education and guidance to anyone who would like to get a better hold on their finances.

The first series of workshops titled “Getting you on the right track” are aimed at people between the ages of 20 and 35 who are just starting out on their financial journey.

“Your 20’s are the time when you should be developing good financial and savings habits that will set you up for life, but with the minefield of materialistic temptations young adults face daily, those early years of ‘delayed gratification’ often pass them by,” says Barry O’Mahony, the founder of Veritas Wealth. “If you don’t practice good financial habits from the beginning, you may easily find yourself caught in a debt trap or no savings situation by the time you reach 50.”

The second workshop will be specifically geared towards domestic workers and gardeners. The topics under discussion will be dealing with debt and loan sharks, getting by on your salary, and developing good financial habits.

“Employers will also benefit by attending this workshop,” says O’Mahony. “It will give insight into how culture affects spending habits and allows employers the ability to assist their employees in navigating their way through effective financial planning and in forming good financial habits. With this in mind we urge employers to also stay and attend this workshop.”

There will be a number of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals at all the workshops to answer questions and provide further guidance.
