Eskom says chairman to give ‘status’ update

 The chairman of South Africa’s power utility Eskom, which is struggling to meet demand, forcing it to implement rolling power blackouts, will give the media a status update on Thursday, the company said in a brief statement.

Cash-strapped Eskom may sell some of its assets to raise capital to upgrade its ageing infrastructure and boost power supply in Africa’s most advanced economy, Chief Executive Tshediso Matona said last week.
