Eskom says Kusile Unit 1 reaches full capacity

All six units at the power station are due to be finished in 2022.

JOHANNESBURG – South African utility Eskom said on Tuesday the first unit at its Kusile power station had reached full generating capacity of 800 megawatts (MW), bringing it closer to commercial operation.

When completed, Kusile will have generation capacity of 4 800MW and will be one of the largest coal-fired power stations in the world. All six units at Kusile are due to be finished in 2022.
