Eskom to implement rolling power cuts

South African power utility Eskom said on Tuesday it would cut up to 1,000 megawatts of electricity from the national grid from 1700 local time (1500 GMT) until 2200 (2000 GMT).

“This is due to a shortage of generation capacity resulting from technical faults at some of our units,” the company said in a statement.

Eskom as a company must be a brilliant model of incompetence and remind me of weather forecasters generally inaccurate. Eskom advised this morning that they were unlikely to have black outs, only to announce some 3 hours before the event that they will have black outs. I wonder what the staff are truly drawing salaries for, it is certainly not for running an electrical producer.
