Zimbabwe will receive 200 000 Sinopharm coronavirus vaccines donated by China on February 15, allowing the southern African country to kick-start a campaign to inoculate two-thirds of its population.

The country is separately expecting the delivery of an unspecified amount of purchased vaccines from China in early March, Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa told reporters after a cabinet meeting Tuesday in the capital, Harare.

“Efforts to procure other Covid-19 vaccines such as the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia are underway,” she said. “India, like China, has also offered a donation and an option to purchase commercially.”

Zimbabwe’s outbreak is overwhelming hospitals, and two cabinet ministers died in January after contracting the virus. Russia is also donating an unspecified amount of shots, the state-owned Zimpapers Television Network reported earlier Tuesday, citing President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

After this China has just bought another African country. I wonder how many African countries China now owns in total?

Add Kenya to the list – with their SGR debt and contract terms, that do not allow for early repayment of the loan (in US dollars of course) and that cannot be arbitrated by any court outside of China and with only Chinese legal principles and ‘approach’. There is no way in the world, that Kenya will ever repay that loan for generations to come. And China of course reserves the right to take anything that it fancies to make up for that loan. If, you don’t believe them, just ask Sri Lanka how Chinese loans worked out for them? Kenya is now effectively a colony of China. You can not do anything to Chinese who discriminate against you there. They get sent for a weekend back to Beijing. Another country notorious for this kind of sycophancy is Senegal.

End of comments.
