As if he’s not busy enough – Eskom’s Mabuza joins MultiChoice

He is also chairman of AB InBev’s Africa board, Sun International and the Casino Association of South Africa.

Jabu Mabuza, chairman of the South African power utility regarded as the biggest risk to the nation’s economy, has taken on a non-executive director role at pay-TV company, MultiChoice Group.

The announcement adds to an impressive list of Mabuza’s board positions. He is also chairman of the Anheuser-Busch InBev’s Africa board, Sun International and the Casino Association of South Africa. He did recently give up the chairmanship at Telkom, though.

The latest move comes at a time when the state-owned electricity giant, Eskom, is looking for a new chief executive officer, is seeking a multi-billion dollar bailout from the government and plans to split into three units.

Nothing broad based about his appointment.

MultiChoice will die a slow death just like Eskom. He has been there how long and it is going from bad to worse. Fat cat.

I down scaled my DSTV yesterday and are now in the mood to just cancel the whole thing.

Look at the compact packages they offer and at least downgrade in protest. If you are a premium client you are being ripped off.

Besides all the other good reasons to cancel your DSTV, one of my gripes that does not seem to get enough mention is the fact that a paid service still has advertisements. Why am I paying for something with adverts?

Would have thought Eskom, with the state it’s in, justified undivided attention. But serving on different boards brings in more money…

This actually should broaden his leadership horizon that he will use in the Eskom turnaround journey…

His horizon will get so broad that he will lose all focus – as he has already done.
