Six South African health department officials who were linked to a corruption scandal will be suspended from their posts on Thursday pending a disciplinary hearing and the formalisation of charges against them, Health Minister Joe Phaahla said.

The move follows the release of a report by the nation’s Special Investigating Unit, which found that a R150 million communications contract was irregularly awarded to a company headed by close associates of Zweli Mkhize, who quit as health minister last month.

How long will it take for the salaries paid to the suspended officials to exceed the amount paid to Digital Vibes?

Good point. I would be interested to know – maybe the Auditor General could supply the answer to one’s political representative – how much of our tax contributions are spent on payment of salaries to suspended officials. We are paying people to sit at home. The rule should be that salaries are accrued but not paid subject to the outcome of the investigation – only an allowance equivalent to the minimum wage is released. This would then be an incentive for the suspended official to ensure their investigation is expedited, specially if they’re innocent.

The anc are just making fools of themselves.

Everybody knows this is just an eye blind (close ranks) and they want to be seen to do something. Nothing but jailtime will do.

My gardener even used his new anc t-shirt to wash my car today. Hahaaa!

Where is SARS? they know where every R1 is spent right?

False – why did not pick the R 1500 Million at the destination?

Is it maybe a insider at SARS helping to cover up?

How does SARS balance it’s books?

They did not pick up this R 150 Million.

End of comments.
