Moneyweb’s app competes with the best

It was a finalist in the financial solution category of the MTN Business App of the Year competition.

Moneyweb’s mobile app was a runner-up in the MTN Business App of the Year Awards’ financial category.

The awards honour the best mobile apps on the continent and are the ‘Oscars’ for the ICT industry.

The app was one of three finalists in the Best Financial Solutions category. The other finalists were apps from financial giants Standard Bank and MiWay Insurance.

Standard Bank’s Shyft app walked away with the laurels .

“The mere fact that Moneyweb’s free financial news and data app was a finalist, is a huge achievement. There were numerous entries in this category, and to be a finalist alongside two of the largest financial services groups in the country is almost unreal,” says Moneyweb editor Ryk van Niekerk.

“Being a finalist in the best financial solutions category acknowledges the important role financial news and data play in the financial services world. Moneyweb is proud to be regarded as one of the leaders in this field.”

Moneyweb’s development team consists of two very gifted ICT professionals. Marieka van Vuuren is the team leader and designer and Kobus Swart created the code. “A big congratulations to them, as well as the rest of our team who assisted with the conceptualisation of the numerous features of the app,” says Van Niekerk.

I don’t get why I should download every ones different app, when I can view them all in a web browser just fine. Half the time the app is just a wrapper for the web page in any case.

Apps are an executive-ego-driven bandwagon

If an app doesn’t give me some significant (typically complex) programmatic value like greater security for transactions, or the ability to work offline, then it isn’t an app.

It’s just another web browser that is trying to get my information to sell.

“programmatic value” okay lol

That’s a hard pass from me.

Insider GOLD on a PE teacher’s salary? I didn’t think so.

On side note, why is Moneyweb so quiet on the story of a Coronation fund manager having quit hush-hush in April?

WOW a fund manager QUIT!? Stop the presses!

I was just dropping breadcrumbs.

The headline is “Top Coronation fund manager quit after inquiry found he profited from ‘pricing inefficiency’ “

couldn’t bother to read and accept the terms and conditions
faaaar to long

End of comments.
