The Ashburton Growth Fund aims to achieve capital growth over the longer term, by investing primarily in equities and similar growth-oriented instruments. The fund seeks to out perform CPI + 4% over rolling 5 year periods. The fund maintains an overweight asset allocation to local equities while retaining the ability to actively allocate a smaller exposure to other asset classes including money market instruments, bond, income, assets in liquid form and property instruments. This portfolio invests in assets in liquid form and in shares across all sectors of the JSE Securities Exchange of South Africa and other permissible assets allowed by the Act. The portfolio will invest a minimum of 75% of the market value of the portfolio in equities at all times, with offshore asset exposure being limited to 25%. Equity investments are volatile by nature and are susceptible to changes in general market conditions and volatility, as well as economic, political and company specific risks. This fund is also exposed to foreign investment funds and is thereby susceptible to currency risk and potential macroeconomic and political risks brought about by funds invested across various regions
