The Sygnia Health Innovation Global Equity Fund is a global–equity–general portfolio that seeks to deliver long-term capital growth by investing in predominantly foreign, financially sound equity securities, preference shares, property-related assets, fixed income securities and assets in liquid form, regardless of whether such securities, instruments or assets are listed or unlisted.
As a global healthcare unit trust, the fund provides South African investors with exposure to a global, uncorrelated, thematic growth sector that helps hedge medical liabilities; it also provides ESG principles. The fund offers exposure to key health companies and the accelerated earnings growth cycle they aim to achieve. The portfolio may hold a variety of securities but focuses on companies with direct or indirect exposure to the healthcare sector, which may include pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nanotechnology, information technology, nutrition, well-being and fitness, genetic engineering, medical robotics, nano-microbot and medical 3D-printing technologies. The underlying portfolio is actively managed in terms of sector and geographical allocation.
