Fancy yourself as a trader and have a bit of a competitive streak? Are you a novice and want to learn more about investing?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, then Sanlam iTrade and Moneyweb have a challenge you want to participate in.
The challenge is to be thrown out to investors and traders from a variety of backgrounds and they will be given R1 million in fictional money to trade on the Sanlam iTrade platform. You will be able to buy and sell shares on the JSE and there will be a leaderboard on which you will actively be able to monitor your performance against other competitors.
If you are a complete novice and need somebody to assist you, there will be an option to work with somebody from the iTrade team to place and execute trades.
Moneyweb has split its office into novice and expert teams. The expert team will be captained by Moneyweb Managing Director Marc Ashton (@zamarcashton) and will tweet with the team name #MWTeamExpert while associate publisher Lexi Monzeglio (@leximonz) will captain the novices and will use #MWTeamNovice.
The Expert team will focus on actively trading the market and looking to capitalise on market moves while the Novice team will more likely focus on a a “buy-and-hold our favourite brands” strategy. Over the course of the next 80 days, the two team captains will blog about their share selection and strategies. The winner will be announced at the 2015 Money Expo in Sandton on August 22 2015 and the captains, the winners and Sanlam iTrade team members will discuss their learnings from the campaign.
